This website and the Manta software are a private, non-commercial project.
2. General
This website sets no cookies, uses no analytics or tracking tools and loads no third-party content (e.g. fonts, scripts, videos, social media plugins). There are no contact forms, user accounts or newsletters.
3. Hosting and server log files
The website is hosted by ALL-INKL.COM – Neue Medien Münnich, Hauptstraße 68, 02742 Friedersdorf, Germany. When the website is accessed, the web server automatically processes technically necessary data transmitted by your browser:
- IP address
- date and time of access
- page or file accessed and amount of data transferred
- browser type and version, operating system (user agent)
- referrer URL (previously visited page), if transmitted
The processing is based on Art. 6(1)(f) of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The legitimate interest lies in providing the website securely and reliably. The data are not combined with other data and are not analysed. The retention period of the log files is determined by the hoster’s specifications; after that they are deleted or anonymised. A data processing agreement pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR has been concluded with the hoster.
4. Encryption
The website is delivered exclusively over an encrypted HTTPS connection (TLS).
5. Language setting in the browser
If you change the language of the website, your choice is stored in your browser’s local storage (localStorage) so that the page appears in the same language on your next visit. This information remains on your device, is not transmitted to the server and can be deleted at any time via the browser settings. The storage is strictly necessary for the function you have requested (§ 25 Abs. 2 Nr. 2 TDDDG – German Telecommunications and Digital Services Data Protection Act).
6. Download and update check of the app
When Manta is downloaded, the same server log data as described in section 3 are processed.
Unless switched off in the settings, the app checks at startup whether a new version is available. To do so, it retrieves two files from this website. In the process, your IP address and the identifier “Manta-Updater/<Version>” are transmitted and processed in the server log files (see section 3). No user identifier, no device identifier, no file names and no usage data are transmitted. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR; the legitimate interest lies in providing security and bug fixes.
The app itself does not collect any usage or telemetry data. It connects to servers, cloud services or containers only at your express instruction; credentials are stored exclusively locally in the macOS Keychain.
When you open Settings › Plugins › Discover in Manta or refresh the list there, Manta downloads the list of community plugins from GitHub (raw.githubusercontent.com, GitHub, Inc., USA). GitHub receives your IP address and the Manta version, but no cookies or identifiers. Manta does not load this list at any other time. If you install a plugin from it, Manta downloads it from the address given in the list, usually a GitHub release page. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR; the request only happens at your initiative. GitHub's privacy statement applies to the processing by GitHub.
7. External links
The website contains a link to “Buy me a coffee” (Publisher Platforms, Inc.). Only when you click this link do you leave this website; the data processing there is governed by the privacy policy of the respective provider. No data are transmitted to the provider before the click.
8. Your rights
Under the GDPR, you have the right of access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18) and data portability (Art. 20), as well as the right to object, on grounds relating to your particular situation, to processing based on Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (Art. 21). To exercise these rights, please contact the address given above.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, for example the Landesbeauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit Nordrhein-Westfalen (LDI NRW – State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information of North Rhine-Westphalia), Kavalleriestraße 2–4, 40213 Düsseldorf, Germany.
9. Changes
This privacy policy will be updated when the website or the app changes.
